The competition brought together nine colleges and twelve students from across London, all competing to showcase their practical plumbing expertise and industry ready technical skills. Lily delivered an impressive performance and finished third overall, a remarkable accomplishment considering she only began studying plumbing in September.

Lily’s success is even more inspiring as she was the only female competitor in the plumbing category. Her dedication, determination and willingness to challenge herself highlight the growing diversity within the construction and trade industries and demonstrate that the sector offers exciting opportunities for everyone.

The event was hosted by Waltham Forest College and formed part of the celebrations for London Colleges Week, which shines a spotlight on the outstanding talent being developed in further education across the capital. The Greater London Skills and Inter College Skills Competition provides students with the opportunity to test their abilities, gain valuable experience and prepare for careers in skilled industries.

Lily will now continue her journey by taking part in the prestigious WorldSkills competitions later this year. This experience has given her an excellent introduction to skills based competitions and will help her build confidence as she progresses to the next stage.

Special thanks go to James Crowley and Danny Smith for their support and guidance in preparing Lily for the competition.

Everyone at South Bank Colleges is incredibly proud of Lily’s achievement and we look forward to seeing her continue to succeed as she develops her plumbing career.
